meet alondra

Where are you from and what high school did you attend?

I’m from Puerto Rico, I’m a senior at Boston Latin Academy.

Besides cooking, what other passions and interests do you have?

I’m really into medicine and law and I chose my electives according to that and now I will be studying medicine in the fall.

What would you tell other young people who are interested in joining our program about Future Chefs?

It’s very community-based oriented, and everyone in the program cares about you. It is always all about the people, even though you’re learning how to cook, it’s not all about the cooking it’s also about your well-being.

What are your school, career, and life goals over the next 3-5 years?

Getting my bachelors in nursing.

How did you hear about Future Chefs? What made you join the program?

I saw an application for FC on Success Link in the summer, and I applied, when they reached out I didn’t answer. At first I thought it was just cooking, but the following fall, I came across the application again and I applied and joined the program. It was not what I was expecting, it was so much better and I’m glad I followed through the second time around.

Did you have an interest in food before joining Future Chefs?

I did have an interest in food, I have been cooking since the age of 4. I was always in the kitchen and later started cooking for myself. It’s what I do when I’m bored or I’m upset, I will bake! I enjoy cooking.
