Where are you from?

I am from Boston, Massachusetts.

Besides cooking, what other passions and interests do you have?

Besides cooking, some of the other passions that I have in life include making music. I am also fairly interested in tinkering with electronics and science.

What would you tell other young people who want to join Future Chefs about the program?

The Future Chefs program is a great program for students interested in food, and industries surrounding it, but cooking doesn’t need to be a life goal or career option for this organization to have a meaningful impact in your life.

What have you been doing since graduating from high school?

Since graduating high school, I've been enrolled in a school called Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology. I'm going for an associates degree in computer engineering technology, with a focus on networking. I'm starting my third semester this fall, and I hope to graduate in June! I've been applying for internships, preparing for certificates, and looking for entry level jobs in the field. I'm also considering transferring after I graduate, and continuing my education at another school.

What have you learned from your work or school experience since graduating from high school?

I’ve learned lessons like the importance of time management, networking, and teamwork since graduating from high school. Being able to motivate, pace, and hold yourself accountable for your achievements can make many difficult challenges easier to overcome.

What are your school, career, and life goals over the next 3-5 years?

For life goals over the next 3-5 years, I want to graduate college, get a decent job, and save a budget for potential home ownership, and travel. Right now I’m enrolled in computer engineering technology, specializing in networking.

How has the Future Chefs program impacted you?

The Future Chefs program has had a lasting impact on me when it comes to work ethics, and even how I tackle day to day projects. I feel like working in the industry, and having a safe space to work in, provided me the opportunity to build a strong work ethic. I honed my abilities to prioritize, manage time, break down tasks, and work with teams or network with different individuals. Working in the kitchen allowed me to feel more cultured, while teaching me both technical and soft skills that can be applied to different aspects of my life.
