Ginnell - Strawberry Tamarind Cheesecake

There is no cultural background to the dish although Strawberry Cheesecake is a very popular American dessert. This is just the simple pudding form. No baking needed to make this sweet treat. With the recipe-testing that I’ve done, the only alterations I would make is less cream on the rim, next time just slightly coat the top then follow with graham crackers. The thing I am most excited about is how quick and easy the dish is to make. The first time I made it with my mom, we were both excited with the way it tasted like Strawberry Cheesecake without baking anything! The Tamarinds of Asia have long pods containing 6-12 seeds, whereas African and West Indian varieties have shorter pods (1-6 seeds). The seeds are somewhat flattened and glossy brown. The fruit is sweet and sour in taste. It is mature when the flesh is colored brown or reddish brown. In Colombia, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Italy, Spain, though some cultures it’s called “Tamarindo,” countries make beverages mostly, Agua de Tamarindo. In other Caribbean countries, Tamarind is sometimes called Tamón.
