Where are you from and what high school did you attend?
I’m from Dorchester, MA and I attend Weston High School.
Besides cooking, what other passions and interests do you have? How do you fulfill these passions/interests?
One passion I have is playing games. I don’t see myself making them, but I’m playing them… not just new ones but also old ones like Pacman, to see how they’ve developed over the years.
What would you tell other young people who are interested in joining our program about Future Chefs?
I would tell them to do it, if they have a passion for cooking or just interested in food. It helps students understand food and the kitchen lifestyle. Also, if you’re looking for something to do, this is a great, friendly program and you learn a lot. You’re always doing something - whether after school or in the summer.
Would you recommend FC to other young people?
100%! When I joined FC, I had little knowledge of food or how to make things, and now I’ve been at FC for 3 years, and I definitely have taken away so much, like how to make things differently, new languages, and essential skills. And I became more knowledgeable in the kitchen. It's also nice to meet new people from all different schools. So if you have a passion for food, come to FC.
How have Future Chefs activities expanded your confidence?
One activity that expanded my confidence was the Pop-Up last summer. It helped me personally because I learned the front of the house and back of the house. It also helped with public speaking because I had to explain the menu and explain our mission and what we are trying to accomplish. It also helped me gain knowledge and now I can help other students.
